Remote access flicks off once per week on PC

I’m running a Windows PC server at my place. It’s connected to a bridging router which then connects to a master DHCP router.

In my DHCP router I’ve got static IPs set for all devices, UPnP enabled etc.

About once per week the “remote access” tab will flick off and go red.

The only thing that fixes it is a complete power cycle of the master DHCP router. Green light will then come back on for about a week.

Is it that I have two routers, or a router setting I need to check? It’s driving me mad.

Port forwardings which were established by UPnP will get deleted after some time by many router models. The solution is to create the port forwarding manually, using the configuration menu of the router. Then merely telling Plex the external port number.

Thanks Otto for the advice, I wasn’t aware that the ports can get periodically cleared.

Frustrating that the ports aren’t then reestablished again via UPnP when Plex makes another remote request.

I’ve turned UPnP off and manually forwarded the port to 32400 now so will see how it goes.

I don’t have any other ports manually forwarded. Should I leave UPnP on in addition to forwarding the Plex port manually so it doesn’t affect other Internet services?

Yes. Though this will probably not be used by anything other than multiplayer online games and the like.
