I have an issue over the last day. My remote access disconnects shortly after being reconnected. I can access my server @ http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#! on the server itself, however https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/ on the server does not allow access to the content saying ‘No Content Available’. I have a mapped port forward of 32400 on TCP which has been working perfectly. My server name is Maxserver, and I’m running version 1.43.0.10492
[mod edit: your certificate is perfectly fine. But I noticed that you have requested a new certificate almost daily during the last 4 weeks. Are you erasing data in the Plex data folder? Don’t do that indiscriminatively. There are only certain subfolders where daily clearing may make some sense. Please create your own forum thread for any followup questions.]
I am not erasing any data knowingly in the Plex Data Folder, and the current server build has been running for a few years with no issues.
What logs can I supply?
The initial green status doesn’t mean anything. It is green while the server is actually testing the connection and then turns red if the result is negative.
Even so, something could have changed in your own network, or on your server, or at your ISP.
verify that your server’s network connection is labelled “private”. It must not be “public”.
I’ve already checked the Local Network Access on Edge on the server. The android Plex app on 2 different devices on the same network gives the connection issue, whilst the windows app doesn’t?
I have Bitdefender total security installed on the server. I’ve tried disabling the firewall temporarily, but that didn’t help the issue. I’m able to access the content on a different pc using http://server.local.ip.address:32400/web
I’ve set the external port number to a different one from 32400, and updated the Plex settings to use the same number. Again, it temporarily shows green but then no external access. Canyouseeme is able to connect to that port number with no issue. I had already set Plex to be IPv4 only
I’ve setup DNS on the server with Google Public DNS for both IPv4 (see picture) and IPv6 , but still have the same issue with no connectivity. Canyouseeme is still able to connect to the port with no issue.
Mine has stopped working abruptly yesterday as well. I can use the Plex App on my TV but cannot on my Android phone even while at home connected to the same internet.
IP is on private, nothing has changed with the router.
Websites like https://canyouseeme.org/ will show you your public IP address when you visit them.
Compare that IP address with the one which appears as “public/WAN” in Plex and your router interface.
If there are different addresses, chances are high that you are in a double NAT or CG-NAT situation.
Though I do see that the certificate abuse is continuing. Every day your server is requesting a new certificate. What are you doing with that machine? Is there a script deleting data daily? Is there some other app resetting things every dozen hours or so?
MAJOR UPDATE!! A friend who uses my Plex server using a firestick hasn’t been able to access anything for the last week as well. I noticed him appearing as streaming something this evening, and rang him. On his firestick, he had set the network security requirements to Insecure (like you used to be able to do on the server itself), and can now access all my content from a totally different city.
It must be something that has changed in the app itself!
