Remote Access no longer working

Server Version#: 1.43.1.10611
Player Version#: 4.159.0

My server stopped being able to do remote access a few days ago. Local access still working plenty fine, but nobody can access. Did update to the newest version a few days ago, but the issue pre-dates the update by at least a day or two. Here’s my logs!

Looks like possible issue with cert so i reset that. May need to restart server.

Are you running any sort of network tools that might affect network routes?

Restarted the server and also rebooted the PC I run it off of, it was all systems green for a few minutes there but it just ticked back to red. I don’t believe that I’m running any tools, no. I’ve checked to see if my ISP updated anything recently that may have borked this, but the most recent update they pushed was at the end of March, before this happened.

Are you manually port forwarding or using UPnP? ( I would manual if not)

You’re not alone. A few days ago while at work, when I started playing a show, after about 5 seconds, it stopped and restarted by itself, and it kept looping this issue nonstop. 2 days later, I no longer can access my plex remotely. No connection to the server. Thought I lost power at home, but no, everything has been up and running. No sure what’s going on and can’t access my logs at the moment, but I thought it would work today, but something is up since the recent 2 updates. - Also note that I manual Port Forward and haven’t touched any settings in a long time. Why mess with something that isn’t broken

You don’t have to touch it for some other player to wreck it… usually that’s not Plex (or you should see more action in the forum) but things your ISP might have done.

Standard questions:

  1. Can you verify the forwarded port is still visible/accessible from outside your home network (e.g. using a service like canyouseeme.org)?
  2. When testing #1: do the public IP seen by canyouseeme.org and the WAN IP of your router match?

EVer since i’ve started using plex, it always told it wasn’t able to connect outside remotely, but it always worked. After reading on here and other forums everyone said it always tells you that but it will generally work. And it always has, but now it doesn’t. No updates went through on my router or anywhere else except plex server. I’ll have to check the IP stuff later when I get home today

Started a few days ago for me as well. Kills my only reason for using plex and driving me absolutely nuts.

Hello. I’m new to plex. For several days now I can’t reach any content on my pc that has the plex server setup. I can’t reach anything I can see it once I’m inside my home network but can’t see anything on my mobile neither through the app nor the browser while I’m on the go. I rebooted my PC several times. I personally have not done anything except update my PC for some sort of windows update and updated the plex apps. I only get the message when using the browser “server unavailable”. Please help and speak in terms I can understand. Thank you.

I posted this somewhere else and got no response. I read something about certificates and it can be looked at from Plex end. Maybe it’s that. Please help

Ok. Not sure what happened between my posts but suddenly everything is working again. If someone did something on the back end. Thank you!!!

Can you give me a new cert as well?

I have the same issues as everyone else remote access says its not working but always have ben able to connect until 3 days ago now nothing remotley will work please help

@roark007 @plex_harden I reset your certs but you may have to restart server.

Same issue here. Everything says it’s fine. Running the same internet as I always have, yet Remote Access isn’t available no matter what I try.

I’m having the same issue. Everything checks fine and when I’m on my local network the server says it is available remotely but it doesn’t work.

Ditto. Still happening today after the outage has been fixed.

Can you give me a new cert as well?

this is indeed an odd one. been like this for a bit now and ive changed nothing like many others. would be great if i could listen to my music from outside the house again. hopefully it kicks back in soon.

I’m having the same issue. I’ve tried restarting my device, server, remote access, resetting the server through removing & re-adding on the authorized devices page, checked with my isp and its not a cgnet issue and my port forwarding is still active. I’m able to connect to everything on my home network but remote access is still down.

There doesn’t seem to be an outage issue but I’m out of ideas for what else to try to get the remote access back up. Any other helpful ideas out there or do I just try and wait it out?

If you wait it out, it could be a long time. I have had the same problem since the beginning of February. I have done everything suggested on the guidance, spent days on this forum, and then I wonder what I’m doing. It had worked without issue for at least 2 years, always connected, always worked remotely. I didn’t change anything and it stopped working.

I must admit that I have given up with Plex to stream music. It’s not worth the effort and there are far better ways to stream music.

I got my money’s worth from my Plex pass in any case.
