Remote Access Issues

I am unable to view my server outside of my home.

I go from " Fully accessible outside your network" to " Not available outside your network" within a matter of seconds.

I have port forwarding all set up. I have made no changes. I am at a loss of how to proceed. I enjoy watching my server when I am out of town.

Please advise

Billy

I would reboot your server to start then look at the server logs from when it tries to connect to. Lines about with “MyPlex” are it trying to map port and ping plex.tv

I have rebooted my router countless times. My router is the Plex Server as I have a Netgear Nighthawk X10 which comes with a Plex Media Server built in.

I have attached the logs. Can you please take a look and let me know what to do from here.

Thanks

Here is the latest results right after a reboot

are you getting any error when going to https://app.plex.tv?

As long as I am in my house. No I do not get that error.

If I leave or if I try from my phone (not using my internet) it tells me there is a connection issue and it cannot play back the media

Also oddly enough. If I use the app that I downloaded from the play store on my phone. It will not let me play anything even if I am on my home internet.

I have read that some Plex servers are not being given a recertification token. Is that the case with mine?

I am at a loss. I have been on the phone with my ISP as well and then cannot help to fix this issue either.

do you have more than one router or is that router have a guest network or something?

it is showing your server has IP 192.168.0.3 but the web app you are trying to connect from locally is at 192.168.1.28. With that 3rd number being different it is like they are on two separate networks.

That is correct

And that is the problem I am encountering and cannot figure out with my ISP or Netgear

I do have two routers. I have the one from the ISP which is a Zyxel C3000. That is where my internet comes from. The IP address assignment for that is 192.168.0.x

I have my main router for the house which hosts the Plex server. That is the Netgear Nighthawk X10 which is 192.168.1.x

This has been the setup for 15 months though. So I don’t know what the problem could be now.

If you have any suggestions as to how to remedy this. I am all ears and will provide all info that I can.

Please note the Nighthawk Router already has the Plex Server built-in and I have been using it this way from two different ISPs. Currently it is CenturyLink, prior to that it was Cox and they both provided me with router/modem combos

Thanks

Now it doesn’t work on my PS5 or one of my Samsung TVs.

I think you need to change the primary network interface in the servers network settings to use the one with the 192.168.1.1 address.

to be clear i am talking about here

Also unless you are using the wifi or other switch ports on the Zyxel I would maybe ask your ISP how to change that to bridge mode (so it only acts as a modem and not a router as well)

I will do that tomorrow. Hopefully they can assist me with this.

Regards,

Someone from CenturyLink was able to help me tonight to bridge the Zyxel Router and I am still have issues with remote access. I have rebooted and attached the logs. I have also changed the perferred network interface to my router 192.168.1.1.

Is there anything else that you can think of that will solve my problem?

Anything on my logs or comments below

Hey @BigWheel

Can you look at my logs after the bridge was established.

Still having same error message about Remote Access

Regards,

what port did you forward to which IP

if you have a smart phone, turn off wifi on it and use browser on phone to access ExternalIP:32400/web does it return anything? (you might get a message about it not being hosted by plex but that is because it is hosted by you)

looking at your account it shows that remote access is enabled and working

So I used port 32400. However, I can’t direct it to an IP address because the router is the Plex Server. The Netgear Nighthawk X10 has a built in plex server, I just plug in the hard drive into one of the two USB slots. And it does the rest.

When I put in ExternalIP:32400/web off of my wifi. It says this below…

This site can’t be reached

Check if there is a typo in externalip.

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

My account still is not able to be hosted off of wifi and my Ps5 cannot access either. So I am stuck now. :frowning:
