Server Version#: 1.24.1.4931
sigh… okay let’s see if you guys can help me.
Hi, I got myself a new TerraMaster-server and set up my Plex-library in hope that remote access would work. Of course it didn’t when I just said “enable remote access”, why should it, right? That’d be too easy.
So I studied the Troubleshooting Remote Access page and tried the tips mentioned there:
activated uPnP and reserved the IP-address of the TerraMaster-server. I also wanted to try port-forwarding, but it seems like my router (vodafone station) or my internet rate does not support this feature (something with IPv4/6)?! Tried various ports on canyouseeme.org but everything times out and I’m not so keen on this networking topic, so I’m kind of at a loss there.
The part that bugs me most about this topic is that sometimes when I turn remote access off and on, it says that remote access is working. 5 minutes later it says again it does not.
And what absolutely blows my mind: even when it says remote access is not available, most of the time it works nevertheless… then the video-quality is sometimes really awful, but I fear that’s a different topic for another time…
So my questions:
- Is it possible that my router / internet rate is just not capable of port-forwarding? What do I have to do in order to be able to use port-forwarding?
- Why does remote access work even though the properties state it shouldn’t?
- Any other ideas what might be wrong or what I could try?
Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
