I’ve had my Plex server running just fine for months, but today I upgraded our home network with a pair of eero Pro routers (my wife was complaining about poor signal so I opted for a Mesh option).

I actually ended up resetting the NAS network settings and started clean.

On the eero router I created static IP addresses for the two connections my NAS uses. The eero wouldn’t let me use the same external port for both so I used 32401 for one and 32402 for the other.

Then I went and created static IP addresses on the NAS box itself for the two ethernet connections.

I figured that would get things to where they needed to be, but the remote access still doesn’t work properly.

Like the issue described in this thread, it will connect initially, but then it turns red again after a few seconds. I turned off IPv6 on my Plex server but that doesn’t seem to have made much of a difference.

I don’t believe I have a double NAT situation as any switches I have are unmanaged. I’ve included my logs here though, so if that is an issue perhaps it’s evident in the logs?

I’m at a loss and very frustrated at the moment. Any help is much appreciated.

You likely are in a double NAT configuration if you connected your Eero gateway directly to your existing router (instead of replacing it). If so, you can bridge your Eero gateway so that it only acts as a wireless AP (and mesh). See “Bridging your Eeros” in this article:

Ah, yes. I completely removed the TP-Link router from the mix. I ONLY have the eero Pros now. Apologies if that wasn’t clear in my original post.

I see 192.168.4.x on broadcast addr 192.168.7.255. How many subnets are involved?
I also see two adapters on the same subnet. Which is the default ? (to the NAS and to PMS)

I’m not sure about the subnets. I’m a networking layman.

The connection chain is eero Pro > unmanaged switch (NAS is plugged into this switch) > 2nd eero pro > 2nd unmanaged switch.

So, both of my eero Pros are hardwired. The odd thing is that the eero dashboard says the NAS is connected directly to the 2nd eero pro. I may have the jumper cable from switch 1 to switch 2 plugged in the wrong port of the switch? I didn’t think it mattered, but perhaps it does? (I"ll have to experiment with this later if it’s a possible issue as I can’t shut down the network at the moment.)

For context, I have a long Cat5 cable running in the crawl space under my house that connects my office, where the NAS and 1st eero are, to the living room where the second set of devices reside.

No worries, it was more an assumption on my part.

Something or someone set the IP addresses for the LAN.

If it was something , meaning the eero setup software then I am completely out of the loop.

Sorry but I am looking for documentation and can’t find any. Can you ?

I set static IP addresses for the NAS 192.168.4.3 and 192.168.4.4.

Are those not properly assigned? The process for reserving IP addresses with the eero is very easy but there’s not the granular control that my TP-Link had.

OK, I finally had the chance this evening to tweak the configuration and the wired connections appear to be connecting to the correct device(s) by default. I attached the latest logs to in the hopes that someone might confirm that everything is functioning properly now.

If so, all I had to do was swap two cables in the first unmanaged switch in the chain. Thanks in advance for double-checking.
