Remote access issues

Hello!

-I’m using PMS on a Windows 7 Ent VM on unRAID
-Stinksys WRT 3200 Router
-Current version of PMS (Version 1.9.4.4325)
-This issue has been going on for a week and no changes have been made since the issue started
-Just using Windows Defender - PMS allowed through firewall
-This error only happens externally
-Ports are forwarded correctly PMS says remote access is working, but no “Apps” will work (Roku, FireTV, Smart TV, etc.).
-Web based and Android App work with no issues.
-Have a local Windows server doing DNS. Tried bypassing and using 8.8.8.8 same results

Apps will just show “Server not found” when trying to connect. If you hit continue to try and select the server manually, the server does not show up on the list. I’ve done a repair, rebooted the device and PMS multiple times, tried switching PMS Secure Connections to disabled.

Went through all the steps at: help.plex.tv/noserver

No proxy’s or VPNs used
When I looked within the Plex Media Server log, it shows the wan connection authenticating correctly. Not sure if there’s another log I should be looking into for further information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Not a fix but possibly…

Is there a reason you run this under a VM instead of simplifying this and running it as a docker on unraid?

Unless there is a reason you need windows I’d try running Plex as a docker or even as a plug-in in unraid.

I just switched over to unRAID a little over a month ago and it was just an easier transition from my existing Plex server being on a standard windows 7 desktop to transfer the files over to a windows 7 VM. I honestly didn’t try to use the dockers because I’m pretty unfamiliar with linux and didn’t know if I could easily transfer the library data from windows to linux easily.

Plex was working on the VM for a couple weeks though with no issues.

Yeah theoretically that should work…
You say WAN connection do you have multiple NICs on your VM and Unraid system?

I do, the server has 4 NICs, but I only have two plugged and they are bonded within UNRaid. When I say WAN I meant using outside my local network. I can could the IP of my Dad’s Roku authenticate correctly. My Dad uses it to watch movies once and a while. Same with the fiance. One has a Roku, the other has a fire TV. Both with the same issue, but I can remote onto my work PC and use it from the web UI with no problem.

I did try out the Docker Plex App however and that’s working with no issues (It was a bit more of an adventure to get it to allow it to see the movies stored on my NAS, but I got it working). I had to let it recreate my Plex data and I will have to go through my movies and change all my Sort titles all over again.

I guess I can just use that as my resolution, but I still have no idea what caused it to stop working on the Windows 7 VM…
