Remote access

So I setup an Unraid server for plex because of nvidia hw transcoding. Most of it was working fine till the last few updates. I’m using the Linux repo of plex and everything is setup to the best of my knowledge.
The problem I’m having is remote access to the server. It’s glitchy at best and many times the server is not found when accessing through the web page. Even when it is, it shows “indirect” connection. I’ve setup ports (manually 32400) and forwarded it on my Netgear orbi. Outside my network the server appears and disappears on its own and I feel very helpless. If I shut down the plex on unraid and run the plex on my freenas box it works without a glitch but it lack GPU transcoding and even the cpu is a xeon 2609v3 which is very average dealing with x265 formats.

If your server is running in a docker container, make sure its network configuration is in line with your overall setup (e.g. by setting it to bridge mode for networking). Same for the port configuration – make sure there’s a clear route for the network traffic from your router to the Unraid VM into the docker container!

Also… you should double-check that the container/Unraid instance have a static local IP address. If the router’s DHCP server is reassigning new local IP addresses every now and then that can impact the stability of your remote access.
