Remote Access issues

When trying to initiate remote access, I get a green connection for 5 seconds, and it then switches back to red.
On CanYouSeeMe, it doesn’t see me.

Trying to see if I have the port-forward set up correctly.

let’s not mix those topics up.
canyouseeme.org actually needs your public IP address as it cannot see/access your home network. That’s all we need it to do (see if your home network can be accessed from the outside) – if it doesn’t work, this implies the issue might be between your ISP and your router.

PS: we can switch to German if you’re ok with it

It’s still related to me not having remote-access — ultimately what I’m on the forums for.

This person described the issue to another person, and apparently it has to do with my provider + German Internet being bad. Would I need to directly call my ISP for them to change a setting like this, or do you know if you can do it within the router settings?

PS: I thought I found a workaround by using a VPN to host Plex with another random IP address, but it didn’t work.

Depends… VPN brings a whole load of additional complexities in the game.

Let’s do this step by step…
Can canyouseeme.org see/access the public IP address of your router at the port you’ve set as part of the port forward (e.g. TCP 32400)?

No this doesn’t work.

In that case you should indeed contact your ISP to ask them if they maybe block this port and if they can unblock it for you.

This solved it. Lots of German providers have “DSL-Lite” as their default service, so if you want to set up Plex’s remote access, you need to call your ISP directly and ask them to manually take it off.
