I have an LTE connection and FRITZ BOX as router, but this problem has been persisting for a while, I tried to open the doors of my fritz but it’s a bit frustrating … however with the plex pass I can see content even remotely despite the remote access keeps connecting/disconnecting…
Can anyone explain to me why it does this?
Since the connection is via LTE / wireless, your ISP is most likely using CGNAT addressing, which is incompatible with Plex remote access. It places the server in a double-NAT situation. That is why Plex remote access will not stay available.
Remote clients may still be able to connect via Plex Relay. This tunnels the connection through hosts at plex.tv. The connection is limited to 2 Mbps. If you monitor the stream via Plex Dashboard, it will show as Indirect, not Remote.
Not that they don’t exist, but I’ve yet to see a solid workaround for remote access over CGNAT networks. Solutions usually involve VPNs that allow port forwarding. Others may be able to offer help in that area.
