Remote Access keeps disconnecting

Server Version#: 1.29.2.6364 on the server “SynologyNAS”

Remote access keeps disconnecting from the internet. Also the quality of the remote access is terrible. It didn’t used to be this way so I don’t know what happened.

When normal Remote Access (with firewall port open and port forwarding) working, you will get full speed.

If you don’t have that open & forwarded connection, you will get limited.

  • Non-Plex pass get 1 Mbps
  • Plex Pass get 2 Mbps

The first thing to check is the firewall on the Syno to make sure it didn’t get enabled and the ports are open as they were before

Next, go to the modem/router and check there. (ISP’s will often silently update firmware. This can cause ports to close)
