Remote Access dropped suddenly and now won't connect

Server Version#:Synology NAS
Player Version#: 4.87.2

I’ve had a working Plex server hosted on a Synology NAS for over two years and without changing any settings my Remote Access has suddenly stopped working.

I’ve gone through all troubleshoooting steps on the Troubleshooting Remote Access page ( https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/ ) and nothing has worked.

My Synology is on a static IP.

UPnP is enabled on my router (I’ve toggled this off and on again)

I’ve tried disabled the firewall on my router

I’ve selected ‘Manually specify public port’ in Plex settings, on port 32400. I then set up a manual port forwarder in my router settings to port 32400. This shows as open on CanYouSeeMe.org.

The IP address on whatismyip.host matches the IP in the router settings, so no Double-NAT.

I’m at a loss to what else it could be. I’m now wondering if there is an unreported issue on the Plex end, but due to them having no technical support, there’s nobody to contact to find out.

What’s especially strange is I personally can’t access the server on either Plex.tv or a local Amazon Firestick, but two seperate friends with LG TVs are reporting they are still able to access. Even though Remote Access is showing as not reachable from outside my network.

Maybe somebody on here can give some advice?

I’m now at a stage where I’m considering cancelling my Plex Pass subscription and looking at alternative media server solutions.

I would try turning off UPnP but keeping your manual port forward then power cycling your router (unplug from mains power) then plug back in.

See if this makes any difference and good you’ve already ruled out things like double NAT.

When you say your friends can still access your server, do they have full access or only indirect access?

Thanks for your suggestion… unfortunately no luck.

What is different is rather than remote access saying it is available (green) for 30 seconds or so, then dropping back to ‘not available’ (red), (like it was with UPnP enabled).

Instead I get:

For 20 seconds or so, followed by ‘not available’.

Here are my open port settings on the router:

My access port check on canyouseeme.org:

And what I’m getting in my Plex settings:

Regarding my friends being able to access… they can stream content through their LG TVs from my server, even though Remote Access is showing as not connected.

Could it have anything to do with the ‘default gateway’ in my Synology Network settings?

Although my network interface on LAN is showing as:

Which matches my Private IP address in Plex.

The ‘default gateway’ is showing as:

Hi,

i have exactly the same error, everything is working well in local, but when I try to use remote access, is not working anymore:

And my remote access are not working, even is it’s green:

You don’t seem to have private or public IP’s showing in your PMS screenshot?

Is this with PMS 1.29.2 or PMS 1.30.0 ?

It’s an older version: 1.18.5.2309-f5213a238 the default one on Synology, yesterday I tried to update it to : 1.30.0.6359-1185e28d9

But nothing was working on the Synology, I was stuck on the screen please install a plex media server, even if this version was correctly installed in the synology, so I revert back to the default version.

Yes; i don’t know why, the IP adresse are not there, but the connection is green, also the port forwarding is there working also.

Ok, i just tried to install 1.29 and same error as 1.30, he couldn’t find the server:
