My connection to the media serv.er keeps dropping. I have entered the manual port of 32400 but it will work for a few days and then the connection is dropped. I then click on the retry button and it will reconnect for awhile and then drop. My router does not have PnP availability. How can I secure the connection?
Did you configure a static local IP / IP reservation for the Plex Media Server in your router settings?
If the server gets a new local IP every mod and then, that can throw remote access off (though it should usually notice that change at some point)
No, I did not. I don’t know how to configure a static IP. Is there an article about that?

That’ll depend on what router you’re using.
I am using a Panasonic CGM-4331 router from Cox.
Just checked with my provider, I cannot create with their equipment. Any other suggestions on how to resolve the problem of remote access keeps dropping?
Can you check if your IP is actually changing?
You should be able to go to 192.168.0.1 (in your browser). I think the default login is “admin” and “password”.
Then look for something like “Home Network” and then "“IP Allocation”.
