Remote access no longer working - new ISP and modem

I’ve recently moved from ADSL to NBN with a new ISP and also got a new modem router (Netcomm NF18ACV). I can no longer access the remote access server - I get the error message ‘Not available outside your network: Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network’. It worked fine previously, so I’ve followed the troubleshooting guide and tried the following:

  • checked that UPnP is on (toggled off and back on again)
  • checked no double-NAT
  • reserved the IP in the router (I have a static IP)
  • forwarded port 32400 in the router

I get the green ‘Fully accessible outside your network’ for a split second, then it changes back to the red ‘Not available outside your network’. Canyouseeme.org cannot see port 32400 - or any other port for that matter. My ISP has unblocked all ports, although they said they wouldn’t have been blocking 32400 anyway.

I’m on Version 1.9.7.4460 of Plex, on a Mac. I’m pretty clueless when it comes to troubleshooting, other than following clear directions, so any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Mhhm sounds a bit strange. Is your new ISP, by any chance, using IPv6-DualStack lite protocol? A friend of mine had a very similar problem. As it turned out, he was assigned only an IPv6-DualStack lite IP Adress because his ISP tried to safe as many IPv4 adresses as possible for business customeres.

Please check, if you have an assigned IPv4-adress. If not, you might want contact your ISP and ask to specifically enable IPv4 for your connection.

No, it’s definitely IPv4.

got past this tonight, finally

Well I’m still getting the red error message ‘Not available outside your network’ but remote access is in fact working. Weird, but I’m going to stop troubleshooting now as it’s taken up far too much of my life, and as long as it works I’m happy.

its relaying off the Plex website if you can still access but aren’t directly connected to your server.

you will need to Enable the “Manually specify public port” it should auto populate 32400
press Apply
Go into your router settings/ Port settings / Personal File Sharing / IPv4 / Leave both UDP ports blank / Enter 32400 into both TCP ports / Enter your Private IP address from the Plex remote access page into the “Private IP Address”
Save and Update router settings
Go back to the Plex Remote Access page
click apply again… You should see the "Fully Accessible outside your network FLASH then go away and return to the RED State
NOW…
Click on the top right logo where the dropdown menu is where you can go to USERS
Click USERS
CLICK Friends
CLICK “The HOME Icon” at the top left
CLICK “settings” in the menu under the HOME icon
CLICK “Remote Access”
DONE! You’re connected!!!
You’re welcome
