(RESOLVED) Remote Access failing for 3 days, nothing helping (Day 18)

Server Version#: 1.32.6.7468-07e0d4a7e
Player Version#: 4.108.0

For the last 72hrs approx remote access to my PMS has sporadic at best, but mostly down.

The remote connection shows live for maybe 30sec then fails

Here is my recent log file:
Plex Media Server Logs_2023-08-31_22-53-06.zip (2.1 MB)

Can my server cert be checked?

I have tried port forwarding but it doesn’t change anything, even when it does show remote access it doesn’t last long enough to check the port with can you see me.

There has been no changes to my network or router that would coincide with this issue

Any support or acknowledgement would be appreciated.

UPDATE:
I have now noticed if i can manage to establish a connection and get something to play it will stay on despite the PMS saying there is no connection, but the moment any media is stopped the connection is lost.

Could this be certificate related or a follow on issue from the DNS issues of a few days ago?
This issue happened at that time & haven’t stopped.

Thanks

Those are your web app logs. Need to see your server logs.

@BigWheel Apologies, correct log in original post now.

On to day 5 now with this still happening, can anyone from the Plex team help?

Can you please disable Verbose logging in the General section of your server settings . restart the server wait a few minutes to try to initiate remote access then get the logs again.

Just checked & it is disabled

The verbose logs show that the server cannot find a Gateway on any network adaptor. I would disable your VPN temporarily to rule something with it out as causing issues.

Latest logs

VPN is off at the moment, having it on makes no difference.

Is this the correct local IP?

Sep 01, 2023 18:56:32.907 [5980] DEBUG - Detected primary interface: 192.168.0.252

yes it is.

As a test i’ve setup a second PMS on another device & i can access that no issues, remote access stays on.

Ever since the update, I cannot access the server remotely. Tried everything from the troubleshooting forum. My systems seems fine, so not sure what happened.

@BigWheel Can you please help??

Is this your certificate or the Plex one?
If your own certificate, there have been some changes for certificates because SSL v1.1.1 was expiring (30-Sept-2023)

Info -

Your Plex certificate looked ok but I reset it anyway.

Please address the personal certificate if appropriate
then restart PMS

I dont know anything having my own personal certificate. I dont have a NAS system. I just run it staright off my computer and keep my computer on 24/7.

Outside of exiting the web browser, how do i reset the PMS? In settings?

Apologies. Im a noob!

@saul_ce

I’m a Linux guy (not familiar with windows).

I think you can exit / terminate PMS from the bottom right corner

If not, worst case, I know windows is famous for “rebooting”

A quick google search taught me… I was able to reset the server by closing out the app completely and re-launching it.:melting_face::man_facepalming: but unfortunately i still cant get remote access to work.

Any other ideas?

Remote Access is simple once you understand what’s needed.

  1. The modem/router must have a port open (the external port) which is Port Forwarded to PMS. Some modem/routers define this in the “forwarding services” and usually related to games. (open ports for gaming)

  2. Windows firewall (defender ?) must also have that same port OPEN to allow the incoming traffic from Plex.tv

The easy way to test this is, from the PC, Canyouseeme.org and check the port.
This will confirm if the modem/router is open correctly.

Since you run PMS on the computer, if you’re testing from that same machine, you should be good to go.

It says there is something wrong with port 80. I already checked windows defender and everything seems ok. I even added plex to my router.

Same issue no remote acess since Friday,

I’ve updated and rebooted the sever ports are manically forwarded and set

This seems to be a fairly wide spread issue ?

Port 80 is for HTTP internet traffic, ie; Web pages etc. Most ISPs block that port so you can’t run a commercial web server on a personal internet account.

Plex uses port 32400, test that port.

If that port is not open, log into your router & forward that port to the IP of your computer running Plex. (it’s is also advisable to set your Plex computer to a static IP, some routers have an option for static DHCP)
And make sure your Windows firewall has port 32400 open.
