Hello,
During the recent outage, I have removed the Plex server from my app.plex.tv website. Am I correct in saying that the only way to get the content back is to have local access to the plex server GUI and reconfigure the remote access? I do have access to the NAS (Synology), but when I try to open the Plex GUI, it just tries to browse to the public IP, which naturally won’t work, because the access is hosted through Synology and not through direct NAT on my home router.
Any thoughts how this can be fixed remotely (I am in a different country than my NAS)?
I cannot provide you specific instructions for Synology.
But I assume that you can get access to the plex data folder somehow, which houses the Preferences.xml file.
Starting and stopping the Plex server should also be possible outside of the plex web app.
hello,
thank you for the quick reply. I can’t quite remember how I removed it. I think there was an option underneath here (screencap below) to remove it, but it’s not there anymore. Either way, after restarting the Plex service on the NAS (which is what I tried yesterday too), the connection came back and I can access all my movies again. So it’s all good
