I’m running Plex Media Server on my Synology NAS (with DSM 6), and it has been working fine for several months. Two weeks ago, however, my house lost power while I was out of town, and ever since returning from that trip and turning the NAS back on, Plex has been “not reachable from outside your network.” I did not change any of my settings, and I have tried rebooting both the NAS and my router several times, so I don’t see any reason why remote access would suddenly stop working like this.
My Plex server is configured to manually specify a public port (32400), and I have configured my router (an Asus RT-AX56U) to manually forward this port to port 32400 on the NAS’s internal IP address. I have disabled UPnP on the router, just in case, though it didn’t change anything. The router is also configured to assign the NAS a fixed IP of 192.168.50.90 instead of using DCHP for it.
When I click “Retry” on the Remote Access settings page, I notice that after waiting for a few seconds, the page very briefly flashes the “Fully accessible outside your network” message before changing to “Not available outside your network” and changing the green arrow between “Public IP” and “Internet” to a red X. I wonder if the fact that it seems to work for a second before breaking indicates that something within PMS crashed after making the connection to the Internet.
I’ve attached a log folder that I downloaded shortly after one of my attempts to reconnect remote access. I hope someone is able to figure out what’s going wrong so that I can fix it and get my remote access back.
