Remote Access-Not available outside your network

Server Version#: 1.15.4.994
Player Version#:

Hello all. I’ve been on the boards for awhile now and I’ve tried everything. It’s been a long time now since it has worked outside my house. I’ve finally had some time in the last few days. I can not get it to work on my phone without being on my home network. I tried all the step by step that Plex has given me ect…can anyone help? I’m not that great on the network setups/lingo. I’m a hardware guy. Any help would be much appreciated!

You did not provide a lot of information. Maybe you did in the past but best to provide as much detail as you can when starting a new topic.

Have you reviewed and setup Port Forwarding on your routers. All routers are different so you need to Google how to do Port Forwarding on your Router. The default port is 32400 which you want to Port Forward to your Plex Server.

Also, did you set a Static IP for your Plex Server. Normally you can do that in your Router to Reserve an IP for a particular host on the network (i.e. Plex Server). I would do this first so that every time you reboot the server it will get the same IP ADDRESS.

Some use nPnP to accomplish above and if that works it does make things a bit simpler but I prefer to only open ports I know about.

There is a lot of information via Google and once you have been thru it, it becomes pretty easy.

I would submit that this is a problem with 1.15.4.994. Soon after I updated to Version 1.15.4.994, I noted that my remote connections were being dropped repeatedly and Plex was not accessible outside my network. I immediately rolled back to Version 1.15.4.993 and the problem seems to have resolved. I am running PMS on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6, but I have noted in these forums that a lot of people are having issues on both platforms of this nature.
