I can’t get access outside the house from another location.
I have manually set the port forwarding of 32400 on my Plex app on my iMAC.
My router is a BGW210-700 that was put in about 2 months ago…and this may be the when I started having issues…if someone is familiar with this router and can tell me exactly what I should do with regards any fire wall elements such as NAT/Gaming changes or IP Passthrough, etc. I’d appreciate it…very frustrating…it used to be very simple with I recall no changes to router and maybe not even manually specifying a port…
Most newer routers will auto configure from Plex if you uncheck the manually configure option under remote access. If you do select manually configure, then you need to port forward the selected port in your router to the IP/hostname that your plex server is using. If you choose to use the IP address you should make sure that your router always assigns the same IP for your plex server. You should be able to google for the instructions on how to do this.
Why? The default port is 32400.
Try forwarding port 32400 in your router.
Thanks. I checked my firewall and I had done this in the past but I just redid it to be sure. Not sure if I can upload pic…but, in NAT/Gaming:
Service is Plex
Ports is TCP/UDP: 32400
Device is iMac, the device of my Server…it always has the same IP if that matters.
I’ll look at my Plex now (won’t be able to ask anyone outside yet to check…too early). In settings, remote access, it shows:
Private IP address : 32400 Public IP address : 32400 Internet
Which I think is right…the private IP address is this Server. Will let you know.

The Public IP address should be All or * or whatever your server allows for everything.
You can check by using Plex on your phone with Wifi turned off.
Right, didn’t work outside our house internet. Nor in what you suggested…Within the house works fine.
Is this a Plex setting or back int the router?
In the Network setting of Plex I have “Secure connections” as “Preferred”. For “preferred network interface” it currently says “Any” but the other choice is my IP address for the Server

Are you uaing any type of VPN?
no VPN and my plex server can’t be accessed outside of my house internet though I think I have my router and Plex server set up correctly…
The above comment was in the Network tab of settings and how the connections were set up…maybe I just just uninstall and reinstall the Plex app from scratch…it used to work just fine.
Have you checked to see if there is a firewall on your computer and it is not blocking the port?

well, it’s working now…Maybe the combination of redoing the Plex app and router porting and having everyone sign out/in made a difference…thanks for the help.

will keep the command prompt in mind if I move to Windows…probably should have said from the beginning was running on an iMac!
