Server Version#: v.1.42.2.10156-f737b826c
Player Version#: not sure what version it is, but I am running it of a new gen 4k fire stick on my samsung tv
I am running the plex server off my Windows 10 desktop, connected via Ethernet cable to my ATT router BGW320-505. I have followed all the steps with adding the port forwarding in the router settings, and I have also set up split tunneling on my vpn for plex to run smoothly.
The remote access will be connected for a while (hours at a time) and then it will suddenly disconnect on its own or whenever I switch to a different section of the plex settings tabs. It will take several tries to get reconnected. I’m not sure if there’s anything I’m doing wrong or if I should be changing my set up.
Have only one network connection on the Plex server active. If the PC also has a Wi-Fi interface, then disable it.
Ensure the Ethernet port is Private, not Public. Settings → Network & Internet → Properties.
Ensure the PC cannot power down the Ethernet port to save power.
In the Taskbar search box, enter Network Connections to bring up the control panel.
Right click on the Ethernet interface & choose Properties.
In the Properties window choose Configure → Power Management
Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off…” and OK to save.
Use Tautulli or a service such as Uptime Robot (free) to notify you when remote access is not available (have Uptime Robot monitor the public IP address & port of your Plex server).
