I’ve been having some issues with my plex server when trying to access my library from outside my network. I have been a plex user for over a year with little to no issues when accessing remotely. Since the Plex relay option has been offered, I have not been able to connect. I travel pretty often and bought a sever so I could access my library via the app on my firestick, which travels with me.
I have tried connecting both with secure and unsecure connection. theres about a 1 in 10 chance that my sever can be seen outside of my network and even then nothing will stream. I can access it fine on my firestick on my network but it’s hit or miss if I can pull it on my PC even when connected to my network. I am very close to finding another option but I want to make sure I’ve tried everything first. I do not think it’s my connection as I used to use it several times a week from outside my network and I have not changed my settings. The only thing different is the Plex relay so I’m fairly certain that is the issue. If anyone could give me suggestions to troubleshoot the issues I would be thankful.
It wouldn’t connect with the relay so I disabled it so that it would connect the way it did before the relay update. I have a synology DS218j. both the server and the plex are completely up to date. I do not want to use the relay because it throttles the connection. like it said, i’ve been successfully using plex outside my network for over a year at full speed. Even with plex pass the quality is below what I have been using so I do not want to pay for a lower quality than I was getting using the base app.
The sever in at my house, which is why I said it works when i’m connected to my network. Sorry i missed that question in your last post. NAS updated from within control panel on my server, which says I’m up to date. Plex update is directly from the Plex media sever update page.

thanks, I’ll give it a try. the video folder is one I created but I get that video station may try to claim it. I’ll re situate things. As for the naming, I’ve not had an issue with plex seeing the media, it’s just playing the media outside of my home network. I’ll check out the app though.
