Hi! Relative new plex user here. Plex server (v 1.40.4.8840) is running on a synology 224. Usage has been in house mostly via apple tv, and on the move with the app on android mobile. Both play content in de original file sizes/bitrates, without transcoding. There are two other users from outside my network that can also play content in native size without transcoding, both on smart tv’s.
I’m having a holiday coming up, so I installed plex on the laptop that I am planning on bringing with me abroad. When testing the playback on the laptop I noiced that the connection was indirect, via the relay functionality. Quality is limited via this route, so ofcourse I read up on the topic in the documentation.
First thing I checked was the status of remote acces, this was enabled on the server side. Configuration was default, no manual ports entered. I made no changes here.
Then I saw the option to disable the relay functionality, which I disabled. Then things broke…
Currently I can not connect to the server via browser or desktop app anymore. The external connection (app.plex.tv) does load but shows the message that the server is unavailable. I can not change server setting here, thus unable to enable the relay option. Same goes for the desktop app.
The internal connection (http://192.168.178.185:32400/web) does not load anything, it shows the message that the connection was re-initialised, and nothing happens, blank screen other than the message.
The android app and apple tv still connect to the server and play content just fine, no impact here.
I tried rebooting the nas, but this had no effect.
I can not change any server settings via the browser or desktop app, nor via the android and apple tv app.
Question 1; Does anyone have any tips on how to reconnect to the server from the browser or desktop app, so I can edit the settings again?
And question 2; Any hints on what to look for to fix the indirect relay connection via browser, in the scenario where remote acces is enabled?
Any help is greatly appriciated!
