Remote access not working since update 7.2.2 on a Synology server

Server Version#: 1.41.2.9200
Player Version#: Version 1.75.0.3920-8b50876d on Mac

Hello everyone !
I am a Plex Pass user, I had Plex installed since a long time. I saw the 7.2.2 update on synolgy servers which modifies a lot the multimedia aspects. And I wanted to install Plex on a new version cause I had troubles with frequent shutdowns of the app on the server, and I saw that a brand new install would correct it (and no just updates). I respected the following :

  1. uninstall Plex Media Server and delete the local files on the NAS (i did not do other things such as delete the Plex User)
  2. Update the NAS in 7.2.2 (for the record I unistalled as well Video Station as it is incompatible with this DSM version)
  3. I install the new version of Plex Media Server compatible with this DSM 7.2

Since I did it, I cannot access it remotely. Only in my local network. I checked all the rules of my router and seems fine to me.
I contacted Synology support, but they say as it is a Plex app they cannot help.

Anyone has lived the same/ does someone has a solution?

Remove the port forward rule from your router and then go to Plex Settings > Server > Remote Access and disable Manually specify public port.

Make sure you enable Remote Access and don’t forget to set your Internet upload speed (in Megabits per second) and click on Save Changes.

Plex should handle the port forwarding for you automatically.

If not, then enter an external port number in the range of 49152 to 65535 in your router settings and then enable and enter that number in Plex Settings > Server > Remote Access > Manually specify public port also.

The internal port number for Plex should always be 32400.

Do NOT use the internal port number for the external port number if you can avoid it.

E.G.

The above were entered by Plex.

Reboot the modem/router and everything connected to it, including wireless devices, after making and saving any changes.

Thank you @trumpy81 for taking the time !

I followed all your steps :

  1. just removing the port forward rule did not bring solution
  2. so i entered the port 62535 in my router settings and in plex settings as you can see attached

It does not work. I’m a bit out of ideas!

I notice your Internet Upload Speed seems to be a bit low. Remember, this speed is in Mbps (Megabits per second) and NOT MB/s (Megabytes per second).

Assuming your upload speed is 55 MB/s, then you should enter 440 Mbps or 55 x 8.

Other than that, I too am at a bit of a loss. Your Remote Access should be working.

Have you enabled the Firewall on the NAS (DSM Control Panel > Security > Firewall) or in your router settings?

If you have, then you may need to allow Plex through the firewall/s. You can test by temporarily disabling the firewall/s.

The only other thing that comes to mind is that your ISP may be using CGNAT.

You may need to contact them and ask them if your connection is using CGNAT and see if they can offer you a solution.
