Remote access not working

Hi
I can’t get remote access to work on my NAS (Synology ds723+) - I have tried port forwarding and upnp is on, on the router. I have scoured the internet for anyone who have the same issue - but everybody seems to get it to work, with port forwarding or opening up upnp.

The router is a TP-link BE85

No double NAT

Can anyone give suggestions as to what my next step should be?

Server Version#: DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 5
Player Version#: 1.29.2.6364-7000

Have you tried the steps at Troubleshooting Remote Access?

Do you have the firewall enabled on your Synology and if so are you allowing external connections to the Plex service?

Have your tried using manual port forwarding rather than uPNP?

You can see how your server is being advertised to the world through plex.tv by going to https://plex.tv/api/resources?X-Plex-Token=<insert x-plex-token> (See this support article to find your x-plex-token).

Does one of the server listings match your WAN IP address and external port?

Can you access Plex from an external source if you use the remote URL listing from above?

Since my remote access is playing up again I thought I would try to check the API method and see what says.

Unfortunately, all I get is a blank white page :frowning:

I expect my situation to be a little different as I use split tunnelling with a VPN client and it was working mostly fine until I restarted the NAS/Server.

Not sure why you’re getting a blank page. Even if you get the token wrong you should still get a sign-in error.

This is my output.

It provides the local lan IPv6 address for my server, a custom URL address I’ve set to allow external IPv6 connectivity, and the external IPv4 address for my server.

It also gives the detail of my TV which is registered as a player.

Folks (@o0-DVS-0o @kesawi) – Might your discussion be better off in another thread?

@peterwindhansen

  1. Plex and IPv6 don’t work well together.
Since you have both an IPv4 WAN address and an IPv4 LAN,
    – Go to Control Panel - Network Interface - IPv6 tab
    – Disable it.
This will save you from many difficulties.

  2. Plex.tv see’s PMS on the Syno at 192.168.68.59 (LAN address)

  3. The TP-Link documentation which comes up when I search for your router shows this.

Is this what your router looks like when you log in?

  1. Are you using Synology’s QuickConnect feature for anything?

@ChuckPa Can do then and thanks for more info @kesawi

I thought I had tried everything that you guys suggested.
But tried again just to be sure. Made sure IPv6 was off -Turned off Quickconnect - made an firewall rule to allow TCP 32400 - opened 32400 on my router and port forwarded in Plex.
Still doesn’t work :frowning:

I haven’t turned off uPnP. Should that help?

I don’t know how or why - but it suddenly works. Thank you guys!
