Remote Access not working

shortly after I updated to the current versionon the server, remote access has failed. I’ve been through the entire troublshooting guide and so far nothing has worked.

  • server was already on a statically reserved IP
  • switched from UPNP to static port forwarding
  • created DMZ on my local router
  • uninstalled and reinstalled plex server software
  • flushed DNS and reset Winsock via cmd prompt
  • nothing stands out in the server console logs while trying to enable remote access.

previously I’ve had this server’s remote access working via UPNP for over 2.5 years on several different providers’ equipment, including over 1 year on my current service.

I’m beginning to suspect I have an authentication / certificate issue, but I can’t seem to locate the local copy of it on my server or find where I can verify/reset it for my account online.

is anyone able to suggest a new course of action?

Just to provide an update, I figured out my issue.

I’m running NordVPN’s Windows client for my VPN for the split-tunnelling and app Kill-switch options and ended up having having to completely re-install the VPN client.

I had tested with the VPN itself disconnected, but it wasn’t until I closed the app and it’s background processes that Plex remote accessbility started to work again. I’m not sure what it was exactly but I believe something malfunctioned relating to the split-tunneling config which caused it to not actually work, killing remote access as the port-forwarding on my home router was never interacted with.

after reinstalling the Nord VPN app fresh everything appears to be working.
