After the hack, i had to reclaim server, eventually i got this working.
Now after not using for a period, i realise that my remote connection is no longer working
i have upgraded my software from 32bit to 64bit hoping to fix issue to no avail.
I have disabled both avast firewall and windows firewall to no avail.
I have tried to open different ports to no avail.
When i try and connect to another device it says my server is offline
I get an ip6 address in my local network even though i have it set as static 192.168.0.99
My remote access goes green for about 15 seconds then goes red
Seriously this is doing my head in, i am looking at purchasing the full version but everytime, i look at doing so something seems to go wrong. Last time it was plex’s issue and i cannot see how this is not there issue as well.
I have been running successfully for nearly 2 years and to keep getting these issues from time to time is just so frustrating. At the moment i am glad i don’t have the paid version. If i get a few months of consistent functioning i will consider upgrading.
If you have been unable to get remote access working after you have completed all of the above (please be thorough and don’t skip any steps, or think you’ve already done all of this so you don’t need to bother), come back and we’ll get some details from you and proceed from there.
Edit: Because people always mention it: The remote access going green initially is a red herring. It will always go green after you make a change, while Plex is actually checking the access. Once the check is complete it correctly changes to red. It is not actually briefly working and then stopping.
Thank you, i did this, i must apologise to plex, I tested everything it was not until i went to perform a network scan, it was saying i couldn’t as my vpn was activated, normally when my vpn runs there is a little symbol in the taskbar, not on this occasion. I am so sorry and feel like a fool. I opened up the app and there you go it was running. here i was blaming plex when it was me this time for certain. Thank you for allowing me to rant, i can close this thank you. I will see how it goes for a month and then buy the upgrade to show my support for the project. Thanks again.
