Remote access problem

Server Version#: Versión 1.13.9.5456 (docker)
For a couple of days I have problems with remote access. I have tried everything that has occurred to me and I can not solve it. The strange thing is that when configuring “remote access” the web says that it is activated or correctly for a moment and then there is no remote access.
I have checked what the link of remote access problems says and I still do not solve it. https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/

If I understood the tutorial well. I do not have a case of double-nat or jumbo frames.
As I said before it worked.
On the other hand I tried opening a specific port on the router and it is not solved either. I do not know what else to do but it’s a very frustrating problem.

Another thing, I do not know why my avatar in this forum does not reflect that I have Plex Pass.

Someone can help me or maybe can tell me how can check the logs?

Plex without remote access is useless…

Restart you plex docker to pick up 1.14.0.5470.

Thank you.
I have updated to the version that you mention to me (1.14.0.5470) and it seems that the problem has been solved but half done.
When I turn off the server, it is known that something goes wrong, because when you reboot it, the plex server starts automatically but the connection error again appears. It is only solved if I deactivate the remote access manually and later I activate it again (also by hand).

I think there is a bug to study.

Maybe someone from the technical team wants some log to try to reproduce the problem.

It’s being covered in other topics. One time reboot the router before restarting Plex to clear the routers state table. Can’t 100% blame Plex on this, even Microsoft has trouble with xbox and Win 10 with UPNP, if you set a static lease for your server in your router it doesn’t always keep the ports open when the lease renews/expires.

Side note, your plex pass is tied to a specific email, you need to sign in with that email to get the forum to recognize it.

thanks for your answer. It is very enlightening.

For the plex pass, I’m loged with the email that has the plex pass, so I don’t know what could be the problem, but is not important.
Thanks again.

After several tests, I think I have some other problem. Unfortunately I do not know what to look for in the Logs or how to interpret it.
Even if you leave “remote access” working, after a while it is deactivated only if the server has not had any changes. I have deactivated the auto-update to avoid changes and keeps failing randomly.
I tried to configure it through a fixed port and it always fails (obviously I do the port redirection selected in the router).
If I configure remote access without a fixed port, sometimes it works fine. And others give error.
It is curious that many times the portal indicates that remote access works correctly for a moment and then indicates that it does not work.
Restarting the router or server every time it fails in a random way does not seem like a solution, since even with that many times I have to insist on the option to activate until it is activated.

Please I need help. I think it is essential that Plex has a remote connection, without this I find it a useless application. :frowning:

PS: I can send the logs that are necessary, but I have seen that the logs show personal data such as email. Is there any way to anonymize them?

Thank you

I’m having a similar problem. Remote access was working totally normal (have manual ports forwarded in router and correctly setup in Plex server settings. Updated to Plex server version 1.14.0.5470 and now no longer available outside of network. If I disable, then re-enable it flashes green and says available for a split second then goes red and not available. Nothing has changed on router or Plex server settings ACCEPT the update to version 1.14.0.5470. I’ve restarted all devices in the chain and still same results.

I am having the exact same problem, remote access is available for a second and then flashes off. I am running version 1.13.8.5395. Everything else checks out except that remote drops. I had this problem once before and Uverse switched routers and the problem went away.

It seems that it is a common problem. Honestly I think it’s a pretty serious problem. For me the server does not make much sense if there is no remote access.
Can someone from the support team review this error? From what I see happens to several people who have Plex Pass

Current server version#: Versión 1.14.0.5470

I attach the LOGS with a truncated IP and email
Plex Media Server Logs_2018-12-03_10-57-40.zip (1,2 MB)

Having the same issue here.

This is for sure not a user based problem, but larger than that.

Windows 10, lastest stable build here. Same exact issue. It kinda works outside of my network. But it goes down and then up again a lot.

Finally got back home and had some time to tinker. I uninstalled current version then re-installed older version. Windows prompted for network to be passed through firewall again. After re-install of older version (1.13.4.5251) remote access was working again. I then updated again to current version directly in Plex settings and so far remote access is functioning. I wonder if forcing Windows to re-allow network traffic was what made it work.

I tried with similar solution (not the same because my release is for Docker) and the problem persist.

Please. Can someone help me? To access my files only from the internal network, I did not need to install Plex, much less pay for Plex Pass.

Please, some help or, at least, some clue about the logs that I have to review and where I can find the codes to guide me. :pensive: :slightly_frowning_face:

Can anyone help us?

II have noticed that remote access is available randomly and without making any changes. Sometimes I try to access it and it tells me that the server is not available and another one I access in a normal way.
I have also seen that sometimes the web tells me that I am connected indirectly. This last one that I commented I have seen it recently.

I do not understand how in 23 days and with 203 visits, no one from the support of Plex has entered to this post to help us.

Your problem is networking, how do you want to move forward?
Are you willing to run Plex natively on the server?
Port forward or UPNP don’t do both at the same time.
What is your router? Is the firmware up to date?
Plex versions 1.13.xx to 1.14.1.xxx have been trying to address remote server capability, it might be a while before they get it nailed down.

First of all, thank you very much for the help.
I’m not sure if my problem is really network because I do not know what logs to look at and I think nobody has looked at them. I understand that the log files are to go to the problem and not to try random solutions.
I would be willing to run Plex Server natively, but it is not possible because it is a distribution that only allows installs created in docker or natives. If it were the only solution I would have to buy a server to do a native installation, but I would like to consider other solutions before spending money on a new server without being sure if it would solve my problem.
“Port forward or UPNP do not do both at the same time.” I do not understand what this phrase means. Excuse me, my English is not native.
My router is Compal CG7486E Wireless Gateway Firmware version 5.510.5.9. It is updated and is the native of my fiber operator. The router can not be changed since it is managed by the operator. Only another router can be added acting as double-NAT (which would cause a documented problem)
The version of Plex Server is 1.14.1.5488.
As I said my problem is random. Without making changes, access is denied or allowed. In some cases I managed to connect indirectly. As you can see in the thread, it seems that it is not an isolated problem.
I take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas, thank you for not taking my reply as being harsh.

If you can’t switch Plex server back to version 1.12.x , you will have to wait till a resolution is found.

If you want to experiment forward port 32400 to your server (192.168.1.24) and disable UPNP on the Compal. Set Plex server settings to manual port forward. Hopefully your fiber operator is not in the middle of switching you to CGNAT.

Of course, I do not take it badly, on the contrary, you have spent time giving an answer and a possible solution.
Unfortunately I can not go back to an earlier version, although it has been failing me since the first version I installed.
I’ve tried what you say in the compal, but the problem persists.
I will try to get another server to do a test with a new installation and without a docker and see if the problem is solved, although I doubt it will be solved.
Thank you, and happy Christmas again.
