OK, so for almost 2 weeks my server has not been available for remote access. I have done everything it has said to do and more and it is still not working. In the two weeks I have even switched between two different home networks and no matter where I am it doesn’t seem to work. I feel like it started right after the most recent update. I don’t know if anyone else has been having the same problems but I would greatly appreciate any advice or other post from people that may have had this problem and found an answer.
Thank you!
ps. I do have indirect access, I don’t know if that will mean anything but I thought I’d put that here.
is windows showing the network type as Private Network or Undefined / Public Network ? Firewall would not allow the remote access if not Private Network
If using automatic port configuration and not manually specifying a public port and have a port forward, check that uPnP is enabled in the router
if using manually specify port and a port forward is in place in the router, check that
the local IP of the server is DHCP Reserved or static outside dhcp range
the public port is entered in the box next to the manually specify port tick
This indicates remote access is enabled but not working
I’m having the same problem and tried everything . l’m using Windows 7 Pro and Plex Media Server Version 1.13.5.5332. It used to work a few years back but not any more. here is the zip file of the logs Plex Media Server Logs_2018-09-05_14-58-49.zip (2.3 MB)
I’m also having this issue all of a sudden… Remote access has been working flawlessly for over a year, and suddenly im getting the “Not available outside your network” error. Trying refreshing, rebooting both the server and the router… deleting and recreating my port forwarding from my router… as far as I know nothing has changed, it simply isnt working. Where in the logs would I look for a change?
Thank you for the logs. I can see a timing issue that appears to have affected the establishment of remote access state due to multiple connectivity tests being carried out at the same time.
There is a change coming along that I expect to be in version 1.13.8 of Plex Media Server that will avoid getting into a state where there are two connectivity tests being carried out at the same time.
Please look out for the release and then we can review logs after it is in place if there are still issues like this
My exact issue. The only variable that has changed in my setup in the past year has been the Plex software. Obviously something on their end and they refuse to fix. Remote access has been awful for months now.
I think it is ridiculous that Plex doesn’t have tech support . They don’t have a problem taking my money but they do have a problem helping people fix their program .
It could be DNS Rebinding Protection because of Secure Connections. You could try running with secure connections disabled on the server and on client apps - if the setting exists - allow fallback to insecure connections.
If it is DNS Rebinding Protection blocking local secure connections, then having a working Remote Access would get round the problem.
Would need diagnostics - debug logging from client app and from the server
I have been having issues for the last month on trying to access outside my network. I have been on here and feel I have tried most of the suggestions and I am still not having success. I have changed to a static IP, port forwarding, enable disable secure connections, firewall is disabled, I antivirus is disable along with VPN. I am driving myself crazy, and it is very frustrating. It has worked for years and for the first time I cannot figure it out. Both windows 10 and plex are up to date. Attached are my logs.
I’m having the same problem that people are describing in this thread. Remote access has worked for a couple years then all of a sudden, out of the blue it stops working.
Works on my smartphone sometimes, but not on smart TVs.
ugh I am having the same issue. I have Version 1.14.0.5465. Everything was working fine until I updated to this version. I have tried to enable and then disable the service, it goes green for about 5 seconds and then red “not available outside your network”
I had the same problem so I called a computer tech and he fixed it. He installed a program called No-ip.com but I can’t remember what else he did but whatever he did it works flawlessly. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
Had the same issue with update 1.14.0.5465, no remote access.
Rolled back to version 1.13.9.5456, this fixed the problem, so assuming the problem is with version 1.14.0.5465. will wait till next update.
note down your current Plex Server software version
Stop Plex Server using its tray icon.
uninstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows 10 or add remove programs in windows 7. Do not use 3rd party ‘uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.
Do not use Registry cleaners/optimizers.
