Remote Access: Public IP address incorrect

My Plex server is installed on an Asustor NAS. Remote access is showing a public IP that is not mine (UK IP). I have port forwarding for it setup on my router. How can I edit the public IP? and should I even worry about it?

Usually that happens if you are double nat’d some how. Either with your own routers or if your ISP has you on a CGNAT

Hi BigWheel, thanks for the quick reply. My router NATing is set to auto and is showing the local gateway IP. Where else can NATing be setup? I mean if it is double, there has to be another device do it right?

Looking at the NAS settings for manual connect-DDNS I see that odd IP address. I think my issue is here and not Plex. Thanks

99% chance your ISP is using CG-NAT IP addressing, which is incompatible with Plex remote access. Due to the way CG-NAT works, there is a NAT in the ISP network. Your home router makes for a second NAT. That is why Plex shows the “you might have double NAT” message.

Contact your ISP. See if they can provide a public, IPv4 address that supports port forwarding. It does not have to be static. It must be unique to your account. If they provide the service, they may charge for it.
