Remote Access Qnap

I agree, i dont know what you are doing on your box or how you have you virtual switch setup. but i would revert down to 1 port like philpham and see if you can get it to work with on port lit up. if so then we would know vs is doing something funky

also 4.3.5, could have bugs with VS maybe try upgrading the nas to 4.2.2?

i get nervous downgrading !

those port sometimes light up and sometimes not.
Tried several cables from different adapters - still random disconnectuions.

I have 2 x Asus RT-AC88u now used as mesh nodes. One of those this week was replaced with a new RT-AX92U. So I don’t think it is/was the router.

BUT my NAS has been crashing 2-3 x a day.
I have placed a call to support and meanwhile after a reboot from the crash i had a request for a file check all volumes which I have just finished!

i will come back here in a few hours/day with an update.

FYI I have another qnap tvs1282 which was also having the same plex issue but now is not!!

I might be dealing with 2 different issues which makes it bloody hard to diagnose!
Maybe the router and a bug in the software in ts1277 …

I’ll be back

I tried setting to a static IP on my NAS and that seemed to “help” It stays connected longer now, But from time to time it still disconnects.

wow that
tvs1282 is a nice NAS hope you find out whats crashing the nas

Who has the TVS-1282 NAS problem (it’s what I use for production Plex work) ?

As FYI to all,

When you upgrade from 4.3.x, the Virtual Switches get completely overhauled. Yes, QNAP did not migrate gracefully.

Remake your own.

(if you look close, my unit isn’t stock. i7-7700 )

If anyone needs help with their NAS like this since the upgrade, please let me know.

Today’s update .

I still has a couple of dropouts and from tautulli’s info they lasted a minute 3-4 hours apart.

i do not know if it is/was my router, nas firmware update or any of plex’s 6 updates in 2 weeks.

but it is working ATM…

yaha specCapture

hey Chuck , I looked close and can see nothing in the pic that shows any difference from mine ! (except the firmware)

Exact same problem 3 servers. Open ports to IP is verified. All 3 running a dynamic IP, it is doing my head in connects then disconnects. Had some luck changing DNS providers good for a couple of days and then start the disconnect dance. Any help appreciated I’m at a loss.

G’day chuck ID like to think I’m pretty Savvy with QNAP virtual switch but it is show me no love with Plex disconnecting.

Been through my virtual switch rules on several occasions as well as other server to boot with no luck. I run multiple containers and Virtual machines without a problem just stupid Plex in qts. Do not have any trunking rules however using multiple Nic adaptors for various network applications on one server.
The other two servers are single Nic and behave in the same way.

Helloworld,
Join the mystery.
Today for me from 10 am to 5pm no dropouts.
Since then in 5 hours 6 drop outs . about hourly but no pattern . Each time coming back about a minute later…
Tautulli is pushing me these updates…

As stated previously I have tried dozens of combinations of adapters , cables, routers, firmware updates, Multiple Plex updates and still dropouts…

HAy spike have you tried to directly connect to the nas to you computer and see if it drops?, remove the switch run a cable directly from the nas to your pc?

I’m having a similar issue but it only started with the recent update. The remote access continues to be intermittently available. This only started this past Saturday though for me.

I have had some luck with DDNS or just my IP; I can connect remotely using the app and manual adding IP and port. But remote connect setup on server is broken

Yo Sickhedrom,

i will give it a go and come back and report.

I am now leaning towards something in my qnap network being the culprit…
Today sonaar was not connecting to any indexers. All network connections looked normal.
I rebooted my NAS and bingo all came back…

Except people with other than qnap NAS are having similar dropouts !

I suspect the Qnap as well. But the fact that there are other forum posts with people using computers to be the server as well makes me unsure if it really is the QNAP.

I had some luck changing my DNS service provider to open DNS I was using cloudflare then change to Google the problem persisted.

Rolled over to open DNS gave it a couple of days and now everything is working again. Done the same to 3 other servers I managed with the same result

Interesting. I am using google DNS too. Let me try opendns.

been thinking that thru!!

If i connect my nas direct to my PC how do i get online?.

or that doesn’t matter as this is just checking the cable and connections??

I can go pc to router and NAS to router + ISP modem to router ??!

Firstly 5 minutes b4 these screen shots my remote was showing red yet 2 remote users were watching..
And Tautulli did not show remote server was down.
These pics show my other occasional “happening”

Note the private - public - internet are greyed out.
Both when manually specified is ticked and unticked.

Now i am back to blaming plex.
