Remote access says it's not working but it is

Plex is driving me mad the last 3 updates. I suddenly have constant issues with remote access. whether UPNP or with a forwarding I can access my server using my public ip and the forwarded port or the UPNP port. but the admin page says it’s not working. but clearly, it is.

in this image here I am connected to the plex dash with the public ip adn port that plex is listing as not working. if I hit retry it will say it’s working but reload the page and it’s not.

This is running on the server that runs other services, game servers, reverse proxy, etc and all of them work. So my issue is just plex. Plex is the only thing that runs on the host. every other service is running in hyper-v hosts. I have a modem bridged and linksys 1900acs and everything else seems fine.

anyone want to direct me to something to try? my external clients have issues where the play something for 20 mins then suddenly the server vanishes but reappears a few minutes later. I experienced this same issue on my LAN last night. suddenly my fire stick said the server isnt fast enough to play the media. try and play it again and I get “unable to play” then try again and get “server is not avalible” if I go select server it’s there but listed as indirect but selecting doesnt solve the issues. wait 30 secs and it goes direct again and I can carry on.

nothing in my setup has changed in the last 4 months. this behaviour has been happening to me the last 4 or so updates and it’s driving me mad.

Just to add. canyouseeme.org say 11201 is open. my public ip is correct in my router. and I have no double NAT that I can detect.

can you try https://app.plex.tv/desktop

That is telling me it’s unable to connect securely!

That’s at least a clue.

false alarm. I was using chromium by mistake. if I use edge or chrome it logs in fine using app.plex.tv/desktop.

Possible just a bug with the web app updating the display. ( the local one is older than app.plex.tv/desktop ) .

interesting. I will keep on eye it. at one point it was going to no remote access every 5 seconds.

Have long had this problem, literally can watch it being bounced back at me like a tennis ball! That is in Netscape direct on a NAS on the Plex server, have just done it in the W10App Plex media player, and it’s now been stable for 10 minutes! Yes a whole 10 MINUTES!

Can someone explain that to me!
If someone else with this problem could check this out I would be grateful.
Cheers
David

Paranoidsytems notice your out ports don’t actually match up. Public is11201, this should also be the on in the box.

I got this working in the end. for me when I logged on locally and didn’t use https:// I received this issue. using https:// resolved the issue.
