Is the remote access option simply for setting a limit and not necessarily forcing a quality setting?
Also, under the remote access option I can set the bitrate to Original (no limit) and has 4k options whereas the Internet Streaming setting can be set to Maximum (no 4k options).
when viewing on my laptop via the browser I would check the settings for Plex Web?
when viewing on a client device, tv app, xbox app, phone app, nvidia shield plex app I would want to check the settings under Remote Access (even though I may not be remote)?
Also, why does one have a 4k option and the other only says maximum?
Regarding number 2, I thought so, but wanted to confirm, thanks. Meaning, those apps still apply for number 2, but only if they are not on the same network as the plex server. If I have a shield connecting over VPN, for example, back to a server, I’d still want to check the Remote settings. Although, when I test this, I still had to manually set the playback speed on the remove plex app, which is not a problem, but it didn’t seem to adhere to the remote access speed limit of 720p.
Ok, thanks. Nothing on the 4k vs maximum? Not a big deal, just curious. I assume maximum will make the best attempt to possibly play at 4k, if possible? Or is the web app not capable of playing at 4k? I’m not sure if 4k is also limited to the web player and the screen resolution, aside from network/internet speeds. In my case it doesn’t matter because my upload doesn’t exceed 10 Mbps, which is my restriction point when remote/VPN, but it would still be good to know why those settings don’t match.
