Remote Access starts green then goes red

I am trying to setup a new plex server on a new computer. The status goes green and then red after a few seconds and stays red. The forums are a little confusing. Can some one help?

Have you followed this - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200931138-Troubleshooting-Remote-Access ?

Same issue here, tried out troubleshooting but didn’t find anything useful. Suddenly stopped without changing or adding anything.

Yep - just had a run with the green/red thing myself.

If you had an Asus Router I could probably help - 'cause I just updated my AsusMerlin Firmware, had to forward my port again and set up remote access. I disabled my VPN temporarily, but once I got everything set up it snapped right back into action. Green lit up and stayed green at that point.

Didn’t take too long, but they changed enough things in the Router’s UI to make it ‘interesting’. lol

Having the same problem, seems to have started today, very odd, keep trying to enable, and it will connect for varying amounts of time.
anything from turning red instantly to taking a minute before turning red.
I’ve done nothing my end. I have tried resetting the router and the modem.
Was wondering if it was an ISP block ??? Virgin Media in the UK

Dunno, but your ISP could have gone double Nat on you and that’s a deal breaker.

Most ISPs, when asked, will fix that. Have you spoken with them?

I’ll have to ring them, I am running an ASUS router into my Virgin Hub 3.0 set to modem mode.
It’s possible its done sort of auto upgrade I notice modem mode was off, and that was giving a double NAT message in Plex, I’ve switched modem mode back on, the double NAT message as gone but still no luck.
I tried port forwarding but new to that so not sure I did it right, it did try connect.

AFK at moment but
Portfoward.com

I’ll throw up an image later, when I’m back at desktop.

Managed to get it working, I think more by luck, not even sure if this was the fix, but I added a new rule to the Firewall in Windows 10, for port 32400 .
After that it started to work, still working 10 hrs later !!
Odd it just stopped though.

Go into advanced setting under Universal Plug n Play… Uncheck - Enable Automatic Cleanup of Old Unused UPnP Services… so far I’m working again for about 18 hours

offroaderuk,
Thanks that fixed it for me! Remote access would flash green and then red even though canyouseeme.org could connect to 32400. I was suspecting my ISP but it was Windows 10.

Strange thing is that I had turned on logging to see if the FW was blocking and it was clean. But here’s the fix for anyone who hasn’t done it yet:

1.) “Win key + R” to open the Run box. Run “wf.msc” (either by doing a WinKey+R or searching for it). Make 2 New Rules: a.) Type is ‘Port’, b.) TCP with Specified local ports: 32400, and c.) “Allow the connection”. The second time through make the rule UDP instead of TCP.

This was similar identical to what I did on the Router: specifying port-forwarding rules for both UDP 32400 and TCP 32400.

I am unfamiliar with the rules, but it gives me two types of rules. Inbound and Outbound. Should I create 2 outbound rules?
