This is a new issue that started and everything was working fine until yesterday afternoon. I am now seeing “Not available outside of your network" and it is connecting via relay or unavailable. Remote access will be green and then after a short period it will turn red. Sometimes I can connect normally, but the majority of the time I will get a relay connection or unavailable.
As far as I know, nothing has been changed
Up until today I have forwarded port 32400 without any problems. I have switched to another port 50001 with the same problems.
VPN is off , the firewall is correct and the router is set correctly to forward the port.
I did read that. I believe my router’s (asus rt-ac88u) firewall is blocking it. It is also blocking rdp which I just found out. I disabled the router’s firewall for a brief test and I was able to connect. Not sure what the issue is and troubleshooting that now. Port forwarding is still set up correctly. It does not appear anything has been changed in the router.
After creating the service and adding it to the inbound section of your firewall, did you then go into remote access settings and tick manually set port box?
Yeah. It was all setup and running fine for a couple of years without any changes. I have tried every troubleshooting step that me and my buddy can think of. It has to be the router and it is possibly going bad. When the router’s firewall is disabled, everything is working. Hard reboot didn’t fix it so I will reset it once I get home to see if that helps. If not, then I will have to replace.
Hi, same issue with me. Works fine for a couple of minutes and then turn red and I lost access.
After a while the access randomly gets green and works fine.
I read through the links above and did everything step by step but I think I am obviously just stupid because I cannot get my Plex to work. On the remote access part, when you click, “Retry”, it goes green and you can access the server outside of your network, and then after 2min or so minutes later it goes red and there is no longer access. I would love an expert’s

so I made a static IP. UPnP used to do the trick and now it does not. Then I did the port forwarding and went onto the Asus router web site to see how to do that. Still have the same issue where CanYouSeeMe.org cannot see me.
If you cannot see/access your router from outside your home network this implies there’s an issue outside your home network (or some mishap in the configuration of the port forward).
As for potential issues outside your home network:
Are you getting a „publicly routable“ IPv4 address from your ISP and is that the same public IP Plex sees in its remote access settings?
Do you get the same results when using a different public port? If not the ISP might be blocking certain ports…
Tom, I love your idea and love that you are taking time out of your day to help me. I will contact my ISP and see what we can work out. I will revert back to you if a solution is found.
I should have posted my resolution a while ago, but forgot. My problem was my VPN’s pass through. I did an update to the VPN and apparently they had a bug. I have plex going through the VPN’s pass through so it I do not have any connection issues. I downgraded the VPN to an older version and was back up and running without any issues. I use private internet access in case anyone was wondering.
Contacted my ISP, They said I have a Static IP and they are not blocking any ports. They checked my firewall on the router to see if it was blocking and it was a no as well. What they did do was enable FTP (File transfer protocol) on My Router and Windows PC through the control panel. So far so good. @meckems

Wait, No I spoke too soon. It died again. Just turns itself off.

Spent 3 hours with my ISP remote desk topped into my PC. The technician helping me also has Plex and he was unable to work it out. I even Uninstalled Plex and rebooted and that did not work, I than ran a “Repair” and rebooted and that didn’t work. So now I have ordered a new Router which should arrive on the 4th of May. I am hoping that will fix my problem. It is just funny how it works for a min or 2 and then stops. We did all sorts of setting on my router, even turning off anti-viruses and firewalls but thing still.
