Remote Access Stops Working Until I Click "Retry"

Hello All,

I am fairly new to PLEX, and have a reoccurring issue w/ “Remote Access.” My current setup is a Synology NAS hooked into a Verizon FiOS network extender, which is then connected to my Verizon FiOS internet. Everything works fine, but the “Remote Access” seems to disable itself when I don’t use PLEX for a while. My current fix, is to go back into PLEX (on the client end), and click “Retry” under “Remote Access.” Then, everything works fine.

All software is up to date, and should be configured correctly. It’s almost like the NAS goes to sleep, and wakes up w/ a different port… if that makes any sense. The IP is always the same. Any help would be appreciated!

I would set up a port forward in your router

Thanks for the advice! I set it up using port-forwarding, and it seems to be working. The real test is to let it sit over night, and try again after the server has had time to go into “sleep mode.” Hopefully, it’ll be fine.
