Remote not working on PLEX Synology

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685
Player Version#: WEB

Dear,

I’ve got a PLEX Server running at home with remote acces. Port 32400 is open on router and works.
I bought a synology NAS with PLEX server running. Same port 32400 does not work. When I enable the remote function, it turns green but seconds later its back red.

Both are on the same network. I tried other ports but same problem…

When you say port 32400 is open on your router, is that port forwarded to the static IP of your Plex instance on the NAS?

TLDR;

If you have already opened and forwarded port 32400 to your Synology
-THEN-
In Settings - server - Remote Access - Show Advanced

Manually set port 32400

SAVE

–otherwise–

PMS will try to open a random port number and use it.

Yes Port forwarded on ip of synology

Yes i did that. But after 3 or 4 seconds after i get the green connect text, it disconnects again.

I got several problems occurred during the last update. But at the same time I did upgrade my home network. Placed new switches and cat7 cables.

My home Plex server is running on Win11. Together on the same network with my synology. As of now i can’t get synology to work remotely.

I got a second problem with my win11 server. After a while the server is gone on plex.tv and apps. But the server is still runing on the desktop. Trying to login locally also dont work. I then get the synology to see. Its a weird problem
Resetting the router/model or rebooting the plex server temporarily works..

Green indicates it’s trying. (not intuitive but that’s what they did)

STAYING green indicates it is available.

I’ve lobbied hard for

  1. Red = not available
  2. Yellow = Testing connection
  3. Green = available.

Technically, it should be Blue (not Green) to avoid Red/Green colorblindness issues

If rebooting the modem/router fixes the problem (albeit temporarily) –
Then replace the modem/router. Those are often so cheap they fail for no good reason.

Do you want remote access to both servers?

If so, they must be on separate public ports.

If Plex/Windows is using 32400, then Plex/Synology must be on a different port (or vice versa)..

Yes indeed. Both needs to be remotely.
But Changing the port to for example 32300 does not work. I can’t get that to work.

Can you supply a screenshot of both port forwarding statements in your router?

Also the Remote Access settings of PMS/Synology.

Do not block out any private IP addresses. OK to block your public IP address.

Example: Port Forward in Asus router & PMS remote access settings.
