Remote access to plex causes server application to crash

Hi, I’m new here and I started experiencing an issue yesterday with plex. Namely, when I try to access plex content from beyond my home (LAN), the plex application crashes. I have to relaunch the app to get access to plex, which now is only available at home. I reviewed some other posts in this forum and it looks like I’m not alone. I tried downgrading the version, but this didn’t work. I took the painful steps of eliminating double NAT (which was working for years until yesterday), but the problem persists. I’m using an eero router, which is connected via ethernet to a Windows 10 desktop with a static IP, which is where the plex application is installed/running.

Update - it appears that the plex application does NOT crash when I stream video from the web player outside my house. It DOES crash from my iOS app from outside my house and it DOES crash from my friend’s plex app on fire tv (outside my house).
