Remote Access unstable

Server Version#: Version 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#:
I have been running my plex server on my desktop for years. Recently I noticed that I am not able to establish Remote Access via the admin interface. If I enable remote access, it tells me that the server can be reached outside my network. I’ll ask one of my kids to stream something and it works fine however once i click off Remote Access and to any option such as Library and back to Remote Access, it says that connections cannot be bade outside my network. I have verified that my Verizon router allows port 32400 and that Avast Premier is not blocking Plex.

I have spent hours trying to figure this out and would appreciate some suggestions.

1st, you should not be using UDP protocols… TCP ONLY!!
2nd, make sure you are setting up static DHCP on your router. If your router is changing the local IP of your server that will mess up your remote access.
3rd, check the box to manually specify your public port and set it to 32400. That usually does it for me.

Thank you phoneguyinpgh. After additional reading I saw that I should be using TCP and created a new rule in my router… #2 I will recheck that and #3 I have also done that since my initial post. At this point it looks to be working again.
