So, if my Verizon Android cell phone is on the local network, Plex works. If it’s on somebody else’s Wi-Fi, Plex works. If I’m on the Verizon 5G Cell network, Plex can’t connect.
This is one of those “it used to work just fine” things. Does anybody know if I need to change something somewhere to make Verizon happier? Is anybody else seeing this problem?
It’s really annoying not being able to at least SEE the library when I’m out looking at movies on the shelf at a store.
Good luck getting any help in this section of the forum it’s like a ghost town.
I mean plex app should just work. What happens if you turn on VPN, you can use iCloud Relay or Google VPN just to test. Maybe it’s your cell service doing something strange.
It does, remote access issues are almost always a router or ISP issue. If your ISP provides CGNAT or blocks specific ports not much the Plex app can do for you. If you have DNS rebinding protection enabled on your router, or some other security/firewall how is plex supposed to get around those?
As a test, try putting the phone on the mobile network (disable Wi-Fi), then reboot the phone. After it is back online (mobile only), try the Plex app.
Also try using the web browser on the phone, https://app.plex.tv/desktop/. Plex Web is not formatted for mobile screens, but it will help test connectivity.
FWIW, I’ve a Pixel 6a on Visible, which is owned by Verizon. No problem with remote access when on 4G or 5G network.
So, I don’t think it’s a Plex remote configuration issue, or a firewall issue, or an ISP issue because of I go over to the library and get on their Wi-Fi, I can browse Plex just fine.
I only have issues when trying to use Plex while on the cell network.
