I just recently decided to purchase the lifetime subscription after using Plex for free for about a year, mostly because I wanted to also started watching my library from my Windows 11 server on my mobile devices such as my cell phone.
I absolutely cannot get the android app to see my server as online while on cell data no matter what I try.
All computers, televisions, and devices (including this android cell phone) can access it fine on the local network (wi-fi and wired). I can also remotely access and watch my library on my Windows 10 laptop when connected to CELL DATA using the android phone as a hotspot with either the web player or windows app (I literally just did this a week ago in a hotel before I paid for the lifetime pass and was a free user). However, the android app in the phone itself just refuses to see the server online when on cell data itself. The phone also cannot access the library from the web player through Firefox (even though the laptop can on the same network connection).
I have verified all of my port forwarding and double NAT situation (which is irrelevant because the server is remotely reachable on cell data for the Windows laptop anyways) is correct. I have rebooted everything, reinstalled the app, force closed and cleared cache on the app, and set my DNS settings from automatic private to dns.google in the android phone settings.
I’ve searched the web for the past three hours, but nothing seems like my exact situation and I’m getting pretty frustrated at this point. 100+ dollars is a lot of money to pay for a feature that doesn’t work.
Any suggestions?
