Remote access works, but the server says it isn't working

Server Version#: 1.15.4.993 (Windows 10)

When enabling remote access it displays the following for a seemingly random amount of time. It doesn’t display the ip-addresses or the ports. At this state the remote access works.

After a while the page says that the server is not available outside the network, but it still works on my phone with mobile data and laptop with a different Internet connection as well as it did when it said it was working.

It doesn’t really matter what is says if it works but this is still not working the way it should.

As long as remote access is working I would not stress about it. I see remote access status flapping all the time while it keeps working 24/7.

Yup, I see that too but as long as it works…

Of course my OCD would rather it actually display correctly!

I think the problem is that I don’t have a public ip-address and I have to use UPnP because my router doen’t support manual port forwarding. I think this also causes my remote players to use a relay so the quality is bad.

If someone finds this fix useful, I got a public ip-address from my ISP and remote access is now working like it should.

hey guys I had the same problem and as mamma says if it works don’t touch it!! well I updated Plex today and well everything went to s*#t… anyone else found a solution? I called my ISP and asked them to give me a public IP and even with that it doesn’t work…

Have you made sure that you are using the public IP. You can check that with some site that tells you your public IP. Also is the right port forwarded manually or with upnp on you router? And lastly when you access the server remotely does it say “indirect” or “remote”?

so I did what my IT friends tell me every time. Turn it off and on again. somehow now it works again but I called the ISP they are 100% sure it’s a public IP. I’m defiantly doing something wrong with the manual port forwarding… I’m so s*#t at this stuff. my drive is at home and I’m currently on my phone at work and it works over 4G network and it works. I’m so confused… I wish Plex has a help center where they could just connect to my computer and make everything work for me… #lazy!

Im having this issue as well. this was not an issue before a few days ago, my router is port forwarding properly, and was never an issue until 2 days ago

I havent updated plex (current ver 1.15.2.793 )
I have the proper port forwarding setup
I have a static IP for the plex server

Its reporting not available outside the network, but I tested from my phone outside the network and its working…

If I click the retry button on the manually specify public port it changes to accessible.

I have the same problem only mine stops working, are you sure you still have remote connectivity because once mine stops I have to restart PMS to get it to work again.

I have the same problem, it started after I updated plex 3 days ago. And I don’t know what to do. I am using the last 3tb apple time capsule wireless router. I am thinking about changing the route to NETGEAR C3000-100NAS N300 or Netgear Cm400, but I don’t know if that will fix the problem.

Some e help.

My friend just did an update recently and had the same issue. I had him shut the server down and restart it which resolved the issue.
