Remote access works only with client-side VPN

Server Version#: 1.32.6.7557 (plexinc/pms-docker:latest)
Player Version#: 1.80.3.4008-03daab12 (and Web, Android App, Android TV App…)

The server can be accessed locally and remote access shows as working.
The server also works when accessed remotely directly with the public IP and port.
However, suddenly (noticed yesterday), when I try to access it remotely on app.plex.tv (or any app), it fails with the error message “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “<my_server_name>” securely”.
I found a temporary solution and that is using a VPN like CloudFlare Warp on the client that wants to connect, it works without problems in that case.
