Remote Accessproblems

Hi all

I am having problems setting up remote access.

I have been running Plex Media Server for a couple of year with remote access with no issues. A couple of months ago I changed my computer for a significantly more powerful one, trouble is the new computer wont allow me to turn on Remote Access.

I have gone through the trouble shooting guides, I have checked Firewall settings - I have tried temporarily turning off both firewall and antivirus, I have looked at the router settings and toggles the UPnP settings but nothing makes a difference.

The router is the same one that I had the old computer working on.

I connect to the router via Ethernet not WiFi.

When I try to use Plex on my Fire TV (connected to the same router) I often get the message that I am not connected directly to the server and that playback may be affected. I usually have to go into settings on the Plex app on Fire TV and turn the settings down in order to get smooth playback.

My connection is IRO 250 meg connection.

Any suggestions - I haven’t got much hair left!!

Cheers John

Anybody got any suggestions?

I was wondering if I connected the Fire TV stick to the router (the same one as the computer) with an Ethernet cable - would that help?

TIA

John

OK I have now just tried completely uninstalling Plex Media server and re-installing from scratch - still got the same problem.

Any help… Please?

Cheers

I think I have sussed it. On further investigation, for some reason the uPnP service was blocked in the services panel. I have changed it back to automatic and I am now able to discover outside of my network.

Cheers
