Remote control (Android)

So, I've searched and found a number of topics from 2013 however, They are very old and it still can't be the case.

I had XBMC before, Used XBMC remote before thinking it a bit rubbish and moving to YATSE which is feature filled and incredibly useful.

Now I'm using plex I purchased the android app for the phone, Again it looks pretty good however at the top of the application it only picks up two things.

Plex Media Server

My SM-N910F

(This phone)

It doesn't show my RASPLEX

Does anyone know how i can control rasplex from an android app?

I downloaded something called Swift Remote from the app store, That seems to work but is far too basic for me.

My RPI running Rasplex is using ethernet.

Any help appriciated.

Odd… My instance of the android app picks up the Rasplex without any drama and allows full control :s

You need to hit the little “cast” icon at the top right of the app (looks like a screen with a Wi-Fi logo on the corner) and select the Rasplex from there. You should make sure your server is selected from the drop-down you have already identified to access the media.

Sorry to revive this old thread but I cannot find an other ones.

So I have setup RasbPlex and it working fine but I have no idea how to control it.
I do own the Android app but as the other person said, I can only connect to it via the “cast” icon and that doesn’t mean controlling it but simply casting to it like I would do with a ChromeCast.

What I am looking for is something I can use instead of the remote for the TV. I am basically looking to see the choices I make and the stuff I browse on the TV screen and not only when I decide to click play.

Say you’re choosing a movie with friends and want to browse through your movie collection, the only one seeing what I am browsing would be me on my phone as that is not reflected on the TV.

Am I missing something here?
