most days it works remotely on browser on a pc or a tablet etc. other days it just wont connect
sometime a restart of service sometimes it just wont work
today, many reboots and refresh apps and server and will not connect.
i feel this is to do with the last 2 patches as immediately started to see these odd issues
i may have to roll back to an older version…
I am also having random remote access going down.
It usually comes back up within minutes.
This is happening on my windows PMS and I would agree as appeared to have started with 1.6.0 and 1.6.1 updates.
a couple of days of the issue, now rolled back 1.4.3
all works perfect again. ill stick with this version a while
we dont normally get an official plex response on the forums…
now further issues on old version, codec related messages for most media… apart from when use tv
and the usual odd time i can remote connect but most i cannot
some bad recent times for plex… it used to always just work
latest version fixes the codec issues
i can remote on wifi or 4g using my phone, still cant at work using a browser but works fine to friends shared server
10seconds later unable to connect again
refusing to connect on 2nd day
suggestions?
edit: couldn’t actually see my server from the actual server (PC). makes no sense to not even see it locally. seems to be one weird issue after another
reboot to fix that yet pc only been switched on an hour
still cannot connect remotely when could fine last week most of the time
my only solution seems to be to set up port forwarding etc when was working fine using indirect last week

ok after trying all version it now works remotely… using the 1st 1.5.1.3520
i can indirect remote from browser at work… cannot connect using my phone using 4g or wifi
so doesn’t seem to be a routing issue at home/server
retest latest version… remote connection again dissapears…
back to 1.513520 and works again remotely apart from the phone again, tested tablet and same issue also. all worked before
i seem to be proving a point with the version issue here
lots of issues since last few updates and no support provided

There are tons of threads about this. Please search around and you’ll find that Plex engineers are working on why it’s not working for some people and working great for others.
fair enough but its very rare to see a plex engineer on the forums
no music stream in gym this week then, was ok last week 
wait 4th refresh today and now connected…very strange
i obviously have a routing issue
working ok all day… realized i had my vpn working for sweden. disconnected vpn and server dropped immediately
now cannot reconnect on normal or vp in any country
but it used to work no matter what
so a routing issue but also associated to plex issues
now back on swiss vpn
another day another randomness
no connection on normal connection remotely or using vpn on any server
hours later using a uk vpn it now work… note i am in uk anyway
If you drop or switch the VPN you will confuse the Plex binding. You would need to restart Plex so it can again grab the proper external IP.
