I’m not sure if i have some settings wrong or is it just normal. Whenever I try to play remote tv from a hdhomerun prime or hdhomerun connect I get the “weak signal” message and live tv just either stops or buffers… My server has an 8 core intell xeon e5550 processor and 16 gigs of ram which I know is more than capable of handling this and my internet speed for my remote location is 50 up and 50 down. No matter which device I try to stream live tv from be it an android phone an Ipad, xbox one, etc same issues, don’t even get me started on trying to stream from rasplex with hdviewer cause that doesn’t work at all. Any help would be appreciated.
i’ve experienced more or less the same (especially on the firetv) , but my up was 400mbps, so this could not have been the issue. the only way i was able to fix it was setting plex always convert remote streams (under remote access -> limit stream-bitrate). after that i was able to it to work (don’t know why it did not work with direct stream).
now the only message i get is that my server is not powerfull enough (also a xeon machine, which should be more than fine). but after about 3 minutes it works well. looks like it just needs to buffer some data for the conversion.
is there an official answer to this behaviour?
i wish there was an official answer, because I always seem to get the server is not powerful enough message also and I know that an 8 core xeon is more than enough. It’s really upsetting that this live tv isn’t work smooth and it seems that the hdhomerun viewer app sometimes works better.
