Hello, i use Plex Media Server connected to seedhost.eu.
Since today, i can play video on my computer without paying anything. But today, i got a pop up asking me to pay 2€ or 6€ to use Remote Pass (or Pass something) in order to access to video. In the same time, i can read video from my smart TV using Plex app from Plex server.
Both computer and tv works on same home network. So can you identify which problem i have? I tried to reinitialize everything by desinstalling Plex Média Server and from my seedhost account.
I‘m sorry if i can explain well but im confused between the name of media server or plex app or something else…
Local: Plex Media Server and the Plex clients are on the same network.
Example: You have Plex Media Server running on a PC in your house and clients, such as your smart tv or phone, are connected to your home network.
Remote / External: Plex Media Server and the Plex clients are on different networks.
Example: Plex Media Server is running at a hosting site such as seedbox.eu. All Plex clients are remote, since they are not at the seedbox.eu data center.
Example: Plex Media Server is running on a PC in your house streaming to a phone via the mobile network or connected to wi-fi at a coffee shop.
Yes, for devices on the same network as the NAS. Example: The NAS is in your home and is streaming to the Plex app on your smart TV.
You will still need a Plex Pass or Remote Watch Pass to stream to devices not on the same network. For example, a phone on the mobile network.
Plex Pass vs Remote Watch Pass
If you have a Plex Pass, then you, or anyone you share with, can stream remotely from your server.
If you have a Remote Watch Pass, then only you can stream remotely from your server. Anyone you share with will need their own Plex Pass or Remote Watch Pass.
This currently applies only to mobile devices. As other Plex apps are updated, it will apply to them as well.
