I have a Plex server and my account has a lifetime Plex pass.
I am unable to remote play unless I’m signed in to the Plex client with my account. I used to be able to remote play with friends that didn’t have a Plex pass.
The only reason bought Plex pass was for this reason.
Is this a bug or by design? If it’s by design how can I obtain a refund for my Plex pass as it’s now completely useless.
If you have a Plex Pass, then others do not need to pay to stream from your server.
Let’s start with some basics.
Do you have a VPN running on the same system as Plex Media Server?
Does Settings → Remote Access say Plex is fully accessible (green) or not accessible (red)?
If the latter, is there any mention of “Double NAT”?
Do you know if your ISP uses CG-NAT addressing? If so, see if they offer a public IPv4 address that supports port forwarding.
Hi,
As stated remote access works when I’m signed to the client using my Plex pass account.
When a friend is signed in to client (no Plex pass) and I share a movie with them they are unable to play it or if they are signed in to the client and I cast using the Plex app on my phone to the client it doesn’t work.
All this used to work perfectly.
