I run Plex Media Server from a dedicated server in a datacenter. I just upgraded to Plex Pass and am interested in getting an HDHomerun box but wondering how it works with this setup. Is it possible to have the tuner in my house while the PMS is running on a computer elsewhere?

There are some another threads on the forum with similar questions one I recall another user don’t remember the username had a similar setup with a remote server and local HDHR. From what I recall he had to establish a VPN from his remote server to his local network with both ends being on the same network subnet. Plex requires the HDHR to be on the same subnet as the server for it to be able to access the HDHR. If you can do this you might be able to get it to work. You might be better off setting up a local PMS connected to the HDHR to do recordings on your local network and then use a post processing script to transfer the recording to the remote server.
