Windows 10 PC
ATT Fiber 1Gbps coming into the house
(ATT Provided Modem) - PACE 5268AC
Google Wifi Mesh System with 1 primary connected to the modem and 2 other access points (UPnP System)
THe PC that my PLEX is on is a wired connection to one of the access points.
I have been having issues with the remote server for months, trying almost anything a novice could read about.
The PACE is set to DMZ mode, eliminating the Double-NAT. I have setup the port-forwarding on my Google Wifi for the PC, that hasn’t worked.
Disable my security on my PC, that didn’t work.
On the modem I opened up the ports specific to manually opening the remote server to the outside, that hasn’t worked.
If there is a post a missed on how to troubleshoot this or if anyone has the golden answer, I’d gladly buy ya a beer! (But only during HH)
Having a similar problem here, without the double-NAT to start with. I can’t seem to find anyone that has Plex access from outside with a Google Wifi setup… Even with port forwarding. It is not working properly perhaps?
Have you check your actual IP address on your router associated with WAN access. My ISP recently installed CG-NAT on all fibre customers forcing those that use plex and other remote services to pay extra for a static IP. Simply if your router WAN IP address is different from the Public IP address, you need to consult with your ISP
create a static IP through ethernet on your computer to your Google WiFi
ensuring that you manually enter the DHCP to the public address…
now, in the Google WiFi app on your phone and go to Advanced Networking
First we need to isolated and reserve the IP of the computer you’re using to run Plex. Go to the DHCP IP Reservations section ensuring the IP matches your private IP address in Plex.
now, Go to the Port Forwarding
make a new rule
when you find the server (I renamed my device when I found it in Google WiFi to Plex Server)
select TCP/UDP and the External to 32400 and the Internal 32400 or what ever you have in Plex for manual port.
Go back to Plex and connect (if you’ve followed everything it will work)
Alex should now be able to see it as well… this was super exciting today!
This way means that you don’t have to use the router settings and create it there. You’ve basically created it on your computer.
Make sure you change your primary player (ask Alexa to do that) I have mine streaming on my Apple TV (Living Room) and I can ask her to play literally anything in my library!
Hope that helps happy to screen shot as well with what I set my Static IP up as…
